The White Lily Ball

About Us

The White Lily Fund was established in 1994 by Angela Bruno MBE and a group of ladies to raise both awareness and funds for Breast Cancer.

Angela wanted to do something to thank the doctors for the care she received while battling her own breast cancer.

Initially they raised funds and donated £16,400 for a vital piece of equipment. And this was the start of The White Lily Fund’s fundraising story. The White Lily Fund is a non -profit organisation with no administrative costs and every penny raised goes directly to the Charity.

We believe this is one the main reasons that our charity is such an unbelievable success.

Our Journey

The first White Lily ball in 1994 was so successful that it has led to years of events that have included Fashion shows, Golf days , Dinners, Sponsored Cycles and Marathons along with our main fundraising - the Annual White Lily Ball which has been going now for 29 years.

Monies have been raised from many different local channels such as Schools ,Bowling Clubs , and even nursery and Kindergartens schools.

We are a local charity with an amazing network of individuals who have supported us from the small to the big gestures - each and every charitable effort has been so gratefully received and important to getting us to where we are today.

Successes and Funding To Date

The White Lily officially opened the West of Scotland Breast Screening Centre in Nelson Mandela Place Glasgow.

The centre now has two White Lily Rooms along with numerous vital pieces of breast screening screening equipment funded by the charity. Equipment we have provided funds for ranges from the funding of a Tomosynthesis biopsy machine, plus numerous ultrasound devices, and a Faxitron large biopsy unit, and even the funding of 2 breast cancer care researchers.

To date, we have donated £1,350,000 to various hospitals and centres across Glasgow.
The hospitals that have been the beneficiaries of our charitable efforts include:

The West of Scotland Breast Screening Centre
The Beatson Cancer Care.
Teenage Cancer Trust
Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The New Stobhill Glasgow
The Victoria Hospital
The Royal Infirmary re researcher
And the Beatson Research Labs at Garscube

All funds remain in the West of Scotland- we are a local charity for local people!

Plans and Future Funding  Hopes

Laterally The White Lily Fund has donated to Lymphoma and Leukaemia,Pancreatic and Prostate Cancers.
Last year the charity donated £80.000 to the Beatson Cancer Care Centre.
With this donation , The White Lily Menopausal Room is now insitu and up and running for both men and ladies.

This year we hope to fund a new Faxitron machine for The West of Scotland Breast Screening Centre.

Angela Bruno MBE, founder of The White Lily Fund said;

“From the year of 1994 to 2023 we have come such a long way. Early Diagnosis is so important to catching this illness and I cannot stress the importance for everyone to check their bodies regularly as you know your bodies the
best. We hope the fundraising we do helps with early detection and support for those who require it.
People are now learning to live with cancer, which is truly amazing and the charity is a small part of this progress.
The success of The White Lily to date is due to the committee both past and present, who work tirelessly to help raise these funds, and the donors who give us a prize for us to raffle or auction and to the support from our family and friends which allows us to continue organising events.
My heartfelt thanks to everyone.'

Kind Regards

Angela
